Congregational Rule of Life

A 6th century monk named Benedict developed what he called a Rule of Life for his community.  It was simply a set of practices, habits and relational rhythms which this Christ-centered community could embrace as a means of better abiding with Christ.  Christian philosopher, Dallas Willard, writes, “The disciple is one who, intent upon becoming Christ-like and so dwelling in his ‘faith and practice,’ systematically and progressively rearranges his affairs to that end.”   With this in mind we are working to construct our own Congregational Rule of Life here at Faith, practices we want to embrace that can help us, individually and corporately, see Christ formed in us that we would increasingly live life as he would live life if he were in our shoes.  We invite you to explore these eight practices and join us on this journey.

  • Corporate Worship

We gather together regularly, on Sunday mornings and other special times, to worship the Lord, as our grateful response to what the Lord has done for us through Christ.

  • Daily Engagement with scripture

We believe that spending time daily in God’s inspired word is essential for knowing him and his will, for our growth and maturity, and for being equipped for every good work

  • Prayer

We commit to praying daily corporately, in groups, and individually. Through prayer, we express our dependence on God through adoration, confession, gratitude, intercession, and petition.

  • Stewardship

We recognize that all that we are and all that we have is entrusted to us by God and, in response, we seek to be more intentional, joyful, and generous in giving our time, talents, treasures, and our whole lives.

  • Sabbath

As a rhythm of grace established at Creation, we follow God’s example and set aside the Sabbath as a day of rest from our normal day-to-day pursuits to delight in God, fellowship together, and enjoy the things that give us rest and remind us of our awesome Creator.

  • Mission

At Faith Church, we embrace God’s call to “Go” and prayerfully respond by cultivating opportunities to serve our local and global communities, always seeking to make known what Jesus has done for us.

  • Life groups

Life groups or small groups are communities of faith through which we can grow in our knowledge of God, share one another's joys and burdens, and encourage each other in our mutual pursuit of Christ.
