Children are wonderfully open to God and to the ways God is at work in our world. In Faith’s Sunday school classes, for children from birth through sixth grade, our goal is to nurture this divine wonder and to anchor it in God’s Word and in a growing understanding of what it means to follow and love Jesus as Lord. It would be a joy and a privilege to welcome your children into our classrooms!
A few helpful notes for parents: Please register your children in the Children’s Ministry Office in Room 6 before they participate in Sunday school classes or the nursery. Infants and toddlers may be dropped off in the nursery (Room 7) as soon as you arrive for worship. For children in preschool through sixth grade, they will attend the first part of worship (either 9:00 or 11:00 a.m.) with you. After the Moment for Children during worship, children will be brought to their Sunday school classes. Please pick your children up from their classroom (either Room 4 or Room 5) within five minutes of the end of worship.
Nursery: Love in Word and Deed — Infant & Toddler Ministry
We lead the littlest ones among us to know and love Jesus through our words, prayers, Bible stories and songs. Step by step we help build a foundation for God’s love and Spirit to reach into the life of each child. The nursery is a place of loving kindness where we help children catch a glimpse of the greatness of our Lord. Care for infants and toddlers is provided from 8:45 a.m. until the end of the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
Godly Play: Encountering God — Preschool to Third-Grade Ministry
Godly Play draws on the traditions of ancient storytelling. Our focus is to help children become more fully aware of Scripture as one story written by God and to experience the presence of God around them and in their lives. This vision is based on the Montessori method of teaching, using a sensory-motor style of storytelling and response. By modeling how to tell the stories of the Bible, we enter into parables, sacred stories, liturgy, silence and reflection to make space for God to present himself to us. The key to this process is to wonder together about a Bible story so that children can find how they fit into the story and personally encounter God, rather than merely learning about the story of God.
Kairos Quest: The Heart of God — Third- to Fifth- Grade Ministry
Kairos Quest is all about helping kids discover the adventure of following Jesus. It gives kids a biblical framework for their lives by exploring how to pay attention to “kairos” moments, when God gets their attention and invites them to join his epic quest. In Kairos Quest kids discover what it means to live as a kid of the King and how God wants to use them to bring his kingdom to earth. It’s all about Jesus, kids and adventure. What could be more fun?
